Warsaw (Polish: Warszawa [varˈʂava] ( listen); see also other names) is the capital and largest city of Poland. It is located on the Vistula River roughly 360 kilometers (224 mi) from the Baltic Sea and 300 kilometers (186 mi) from the Carpathian Mountains. Its population as of June 2009 was estimated at 1,711,466, and the Warsaw metropolitan area at approximately 2,785,000.[1] The city area is 516.9 square kilometers (199.6 sq mi), with an agglomeration of 6,100.43 square kilometers (2,355.4 sq mi) (Warsaw Metro Area – Obszar Metropolitalny Warszawy).[2] Warsaw is the 9th largest city in the European Union by population. Warsaw is one of the Alpha Cities.

The Shed

This certainly ‘wow’ed most of us… For me it was certainly one of the highlights of the study tour.
Designed by Mary Arnold-Forster of Dualchas for herself, this has got to be one of the best modern homes in Scotland – no hyperbole.
It is utterly contextual, thoroughly modern, extremely comfortable, sustainable, and, well, spectacular.
I rather liked the fact that the larch cladding is in fact a rain-screen – this allows each plank to move independently, and allows easy replacement if necessary – this subtly avoids perfectly straight lines, as the warps and curves give the impression that the home is a living, working part of the surroundings.
Although again no interior pictures were taken, there are some out there. Of particular note is the first floor cantilevered picture window in the north gable – a real picture it is too, with an incredible view of the ever-changing Cuillins.
Another nice little touch, not immediately apparent, is a small portrait window above the picture window – it’s at eye level when standing, thus providing a little taster of the view when on the central axis – including from the shower!
This view gives a hint of what the view is like from the first floor sitting area…

Looking at the strip of negatives, this frame caught my attention as instead of looking very orange, it instead looked very blue!
Once the colours were inverted the blue turned into the red cast which is the result of a lot of light leakage.
It was very sunny this day and I have noticed that on frames where it was a long time before I took a photo there was a lot more light leak. The normal green cast is just visible in the pipework, but the green is largely obliterated by the red cast from the light leak.
BTW anyone annoyed by that silly new "from yahoo" logo? It’s infuriating!
userscripts.org/scripts/show/58478 seems to get rid of it fairly well.
It’s called the "Flickr Logo Cleaner"
Scanned "as a slide" using Epson Iscan for Ubuntu Linux on the Epson 4490, then inverted in Gimp to form a "positive" image.
